Curriculum & Instruction

All P721M instructional programs are tailored to meet the individual needs of students with various disabilities: significant cognitive delays, emotionally challenged, sensory impaired and/or multiple disabilities.

P721M curricula is designed to meet the Common Core Standards as adopted by New York State and the New York City Department of education for those students following the standardized curriculum; or the CDOS standards for students who are alternately assessed.

Teachers within the Alternate Assessment Program are trained to utilize Thinking Maps and its research-based practices to help students take more ownership of their learning and make stronger connections to topics of study.  Additionally, instruction is delivered in a manner that adheres to each student's preferred mode of communication (PMC).
